Cervical Cancer Current Staging
Stage 0 Abnormal cells are limited to the most inner layer of the cervix, carcinoma is named as in situ.
Stage I Tumor is limited with the cervix.
Stage IA Microscopic invasive cancer. The stromal invasion of the tumor, the maximum depth measured from the basal membrane of the epithelia is 5 mm or less and the horizontal spreading is 7.0mm or less.
Stage IA1 Measured stromal invasion is 3.0 mm or less.
Stage IA2 Measured stromal invasion is between 3.0mm to 5 mm.
Stage IB clinically, tumor limited to the cervix or microscopically tumor larger than IA2 (tumor going deeper than 5mm).
Stage IB1 clinically the tumor seen is 4 cm or less.
Stage IB2 clinically seen tumor is limited to the cervix and larger than 4 cm.
II Tumor has spread beyond uterus but has not reached pelvic wall or no involvement in lower 1/3 vaginal section.
IIA Tumor has not done parametrial involvement.
IIA1 clinically seen tumor is 4 cm or less.
IIA2 clinically seen tumor is 4 cm or bigger.
IIB Tumor is involved in parametriums.
III Tumor is involved in lower 1/3 section of the vagina or involved in the pelvic walls or caused hydronephrosis or disrupted kidney functions.
IIIA Tumor is involved in lower 1/3 section of the vagina.
IIIB Tumor has spread to the pelvic wall or caused hydronephrosis or disrupted kidney functions.
IV Metastatic Disease
Disease IVA Tumor invaded bladder or rectal mucosa or has been carried out of real pelvis.
IVB distant organ metastasis
